- Chery Tiggo 7 & 8 CSH PHEV Now Open for Booking – Launching Soon?
Orders for the much-anticipated Chery Tiggo 7 & 8 CSH PHEV SUVs have now been opened. Launch imminent?
Following a lengthy teaser campaign that started way back during the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025) earlier this year, Chery Malaysia has finally opened the order books for its much-anticipated plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV duo, the Chery Tiggo 7 and 8 CSH.
As detailed prior, the Tiggo 7 and 8 PHEV duo will debut the brand’s own Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) powertrain setup, which centres around a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged engine with a sublime thermal efficiency rate of 44.5% and can deliver up to 154 HP and 220 NM.
The electrification part comes in the form of Chery’s proprietary 3-speed Stepless Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) that integrates two electric motors rated at 201 HP and 310 NM. Combined, this whole setup boasts a sublime total system output of 342 HP and 525 NM—all of which goes exclusively to the front wheels to allow rapid century sprint times as low as 4.26 seconds.
Beyond the performance numbers, Chery points out that efficiency is the main goal for its CSH setup, where its 18.3-kWh LFP battery pack is said to deliver up to 95 km of pure electric range. Combined with its large 60-litre fuel tank, the whole CSH setup promises up to 1,200 km of comprehensive driving range for both the Tiggo 7 and 8 CSH, with a combined fuel consumption of 4.9 litres per 100 km.
And just like many other modern PHEVs, both the T7 and T8 CSH support both AC and DC charging methods, with the latter enabling the battery pack to be charged from 30% to 80% in just 19 minutes. Alternatively, both cars can be fully charged in 8.5 hours via the slower three-pin wall plug charger.
In terms of the safety of the CSH setup, the company claims that the battery pack is IP68-certified, meaning that besides being dust- and water-resistant, it is also capable of withstanding up to 95 degrees Celsius. To test this out, Chery has put the pack in a series of safety challenges around the world, where it has survived being submerged in seawater for over 53 hours in Indonesia, as well as being put on a scrape test in Mexico.
Bookings for the upcoming Chery Tiggo 7 and 8 CSH can now be made at their own dedicated websites, with their official launch set to happen soon. In the meantime, you can check out Chery Malaysia’s official social media channels to learn more about these two upcoming PHEV SUVs.
