The Royal Malaysia Traffic Police (JSPT) has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the 2025 Petronas Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL), which runs from 28 September to 5 October.

The 29th edition of the race will cover 1,244.2 kilometres across eight stages, featuring 132 riders from 22 international teams.

The race begins in Langkawi on 28 September with a 96.7 km circuit to Padang Mat Sirat before heading to Perlis, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor.

It will conclude in Kuala Lumpur on 5 October, with the final sprint ending at the Petronas Twin Towers.

Highlights include the punishing 198.2 km route from Gerik to Pasir Puteh (Stage 3), the challenging climb to Fraser’s Hill (Stage 5), and the longest stage, a 214.9 km ride from Malacca to Medini (Stage 7).

To ensure safety, JSPT will deploy 164 personnel, including 16 officers and 148 other ranks, supported by state police. Roads along the route will face temporary closures and diversions, depending on race progress.

Motorists are advised to plan journeys early, use alternative routes, and follow traffic instructions to minimise disruption. Spectators are encouraged to arrive ahead of time at viewing points before road closures take effect.

“Public cooperation is vital for the safe and smooth running of this international sporting event,” JSPT said in a statement.
