- Extra Budi95 Fuel Quota For Full-Time E-Hailing Drivers - Amir Hamzah
The government will soon roll out an additional Budi95 fuel quota for full-time e-hailing drivers, calculated based on their actual fuel usage, said Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.
He said the new eligibility applies to drivers who use their own vehicles for e-hailing services, with details expected to be finalised by Oct 15. The allocation, he added, will be determined using data from the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD).
“We have received some data from APAD and are analysing it to ensure the additional quota is provided fairly based on actual usage
Before mid-October, subsidies will be issued to eligible drivers in the e-hailing and p-hailing sectors,” he said.
Amir Hamzah said the move reflects a data-driven approach to ensure subsidies reach those who truly need them.
“We want to avoid over-allocation where drivers receive more than necessary without using it for fuel,” he added.
Speaking at the launch of the Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES) 2024 Report, Amir Hamzah said the new quota forms part of ongoing fiscal reforms to reduce the budget deficit while improving targeted assistance.
He explained that RON95 fuel subsidies are now more focused, limited to Malaysians aged 16 and above with valid driving licences, ensuring that public funds are channelled to those eligible.
"Savings gained from this targeted approach would be redirected to healthcare, education, and welfare programmes, strengthening support for the people," the minister concluded.
