- Klang Valley Trains Improving, Prasarana to Report Performance - Loke

Despite commuter complaints, rail services in the Klang Valley have improved over the past few years, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said.
Speaking at the Seremban Sentral Transit-Oriented Development groundbreaking on Sat, Loke said Prasarana Malaysia Berhad has been asked to provide a full report on rail performance, and early figures show fewer faults and interruptions compared with two to three years ago.
“Yes, disruptions still happen, but saying the situation has worsened isn’t accurate based on facts,” he told Sinar Harian.

The government has invested hundreds of millions of ringgit in maintenance and new train sets, including several new units for the Kelana Jaya Line.
"Some interruptions are unavoidable, like when heavy rain or fallen trees affect exposed tracks," Loke pointed out.
The minister admitted there’s room for improvement in communication with commuters, especially during service issues. Many passengers don’t know what caused a disruption, how long it will last, or what alternative transport options exist.

“As long as trains are properly maintained, they can run for up to 30 years. We only retire or replace them if it’s operationally beneficial,” he said, dismissing claims that older trains are the problem and stressing that passenger safety remains the top priority.
