Honda Accord

Honda Malaysia has launched their 10^th generation D-segment sedan in 2020. The Honda Accord 1.5 TC-P reflects a new outlook with a transformation like no other. A bolder exterior presence on the road will be a head turner, while next generation technology will captivate drivers on the inside.

There are a total of two variants offered in the new Honda Accord’s catalogue, starting with the Accord 1.5 TC and Accord 1.5 TC-P. Both locally assembled at Honda Malaysia’s Pagoh, Melaka plant, with the base variant 1.5 TC retailing at RM178,203.00 and the range-topping 1.5 TC-P at RM187,390.73.

The dashboard design is sleek, practical and simple yet elegant-looking, with wood trim and soft-touch all black materials with silver trims as a detailing finish. Easiness for the driver, buttons and other controls for the system are placed strategically on the dashboard.   

The Honda Accord 1.5 TC-P is installed with a 7-inch TFT-MID digital instrument cluster. 

The seats are finished in full black leather upholstery. It gets an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat with memory function, a 4-way power-adjustable front passenger seat with shoulder adjustment switch and power lumbar for driver and passenger.

The Accord 1.5 TC-P offers plenty of head and legroom thus front and rear occupants get ample space. For the rear occupants especially, the space is very generous as its rear legroom is class-leading. 

It has numerous storage areas including medium sized door pockets, compartmentalized storage areas in the center console and a decent-sized glove box.

There are 4 cup holders, 2 located in the front center console, while the other 2 located at the rear’s center armrest. As for bottle holders, it gets 2 with each one in the front side door panels. 

The Accord 1.5 TC-P gets two 12-volt power sockets with one located in the front center console and one at the back part of the center console. It also has 4 USB sockets with two located in the front center console and two in the back part of the center console. Apart from that it also gets a wireless charger.

With 570-litres of boot space it is able to fit up to 2 golf bags and also a pet carrier at the same time with ease. 

The measurements are 4,901 mm length, 1,862 mm width, 1,450 mm height, and weigh 1,494 kg with a wheelbase spanning 2,830 mm.

The Honda Accord 1.5 TC-P exudes a sleek and sporty exterior with a front bumper that is aerodynamically styled. Paired with a large chrome wing-like trim with the Honda badge in the middle that sits above an extended, upright gloss black grille. It also gets angular-shaped with black cladding finish fog lights located at the lower end corners of the bumpers. 

At the rear, the Accord 1.5 TC-P gets a new simple yet sporty design. It’s designed with an upswept rear deck and large wraparound tail lights. The rear bumper gets a clean and no creases design paired with thin slit-like fog lights and bumper integrated twin exhaust. 

It gets a pair of sharp and slim angular-shaped headlamps that come with full LED units and fitted with daytime running LEDs. The sharp design gives the front a more focused and athletic look.

At the back, the taillights get full LED units with LED turn signals. The large wraparound tail lights are in a crab claw-like shape and have a commanding presence of the whole layout. Overall it compensates the minimalist design approach well.   

The side mirrors are hydrophilic coated, power adjusted and power folded with turn-indicators and blind spot camera.   

The Accord 1.5 TC-P is equipped with 18-inch, 5 spokes bladed design alloy rims with 235/45 tyres. 

The Accord 1.5 TC-P features the new Honda Sensing system which includes Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Low Speed Follow (LSF) function and auto high beam function. Apart from that, it also gets Honda LaneWatch Camera (LWC), multi-view 360 degree camera system, Cross Traffic Monitor and Smart Parking Assist System with rear Brake Assist. Its standard safety includes blind-spot info system, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Agile Handling Assist (AHA), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Auto Brake Hold (ABH), Brake Assist and Hill Start Assist.

Passive safety includes 6 airbags which includes front, side and curtain, seat belt anchors, reminders and pre-tensioners, 4 front and 4 rear parking sensors, ISOFIX, driver attention monitor, security alarm with immobilizer and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

The Honda Sensing driver assist system will make driving on the highway a much more relaxing task and also the Smart Parking Assist system will eliminate the difficulties of parking in tight spots. 

The Accord 1.5 TC-P features an 8-inch advanced display audio touchscreen head unit that supports Hands-Free Telephone (HFT) function and voice command. It is also paired with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.  

Audio is routed through a 10-speaker set-up, which includes a subwoofer.  

The 1.5-litre, 4 Cylinder 16 Valve, DOHC VTEC Turbo engine produces 198 hp of max power at 5,500 rpm and 260 Nm of torque at 1,600 rpm to 5,000 rpm. 

The Honda Accord 1.5 TC-P gets a variable speed CVT gearbox. 

Power is sent to its front wheels.

The Accord 1.5 TC-P can go from 0-100 kph in 9.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 190 kph. 

The fuel tank capacity is 65-litres and it is capable of delivering a combined fuel consumption figure of 6.3-litres for every 100 km.  

It has smart keyless entry with engine push-button start, walk away auto-lock, remote powered boot operation, dual-zone automatic climate control, multi-function steering wheel, steering tilt and telescopic functions, 8-way power-adjustable driver seat with memory function and 4-way adjustable front passenger seat with shoulder adjustment switch and power lumbar for driver and passenger, powered rear windscreen shade, wireless charger, 360 degree camera, rear view camera with front and rear parking sensors, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, paddle shifters, auto headlights and wipers function.

There’s a rear air vent located at the center, behind the front occupant’s arm rest.

The seats are supportive. Overall it is comfortable, spacious and the ride quality is good. The Accord 1.5 TC-P’s performance and handling are more relaxed and is better suited for cruising.

The Accord 1.5 TC-P has a noise level of 62 dB at 60 kph, 66 dB at 90 kph and 69 dB at 110 kph. Paired along with the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which utilizes 3 microphones that pick up and cancels low-frequency sounds, makes wind, road and tyre noises barely noticeable. 

The 10^th generation Honda Accord has all the right ingredients in being a great saloon. It offers handsome looks, a lovely cabin, generous safety equipment, and a powerful engine altogether. 

The new Accord 1.5 TC-P has an interior with luxurious leather seats, whisper-quiet cabin and a captivating instrument panel equipped with technology that puts you in control. The exterior on the other hand, gives out an outlook that is sleek and sporty while still able to maintain an elegance and sophisticated vibe.

Granted it comes in all its glory, the price has also increased substantially over the previous generation model. The Accord 1.5 TC-P is priced at RM195, 900 but with it came a much more sophisticated and advanced model.
