A pioneer of the luxury SUV segment, the Range Rover has been around for more than 50 years and has been continuously refined throughout.

Now, Land Rover’s fifth-generation flagship model, alias L460, is the new Range Rover, replacing the fourth-gen L405 that’s been around since 2012.

Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia (JLRM) is offering the new Range Rover L460 in the Standard Wheelbase (SWB) with HSE (High Specification Equipment) trimline.

The new Range Rover L460 has a sophisticatedly modern and highly premium designed dashboard, underpinned by a minimalistic nature.

Decked in black semi-aniline leather, there are natural wood veneers present along with subtle silver trimmings, accentuating the entire layout.

Overall, every accessibility on the dash is ergonomically positioned for the driver, and the arrangements are clean and airy.

The Standard Wheelbase (SWB) features a five-seater configuration with black semi-aniline leather seats as standard. 

It also comes with an optional leather-free upholstery, combining ‘Ultrafabrics’ and ‘Kvadrat’ Premium textile in multiple hue choices.

Comfortably premium, all seats are power adjustable, and comes with heating/cooling functions, up to 12 degrees of powered recline (rear), and armrests (front, rear).

Built to be a pavement hugger, the very large and stocky silhouette offers plenty of head, shoulder and legroom, thus front and rear occupants get ample space.

It also underpins Land Rover's new flexible Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA-Flex), making it 75 MM longer and 63 MM wider than its predecessor.

The centre console, minimised of buttons and dials, makes room for the extra spacious armrest that has a large cavern storage compartment underneath. 

Elsewhere, it has other storage areas like large sized door pockets, back seat pockets, and a decent-sized glove box with upper stowage.

Featuring an Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) system, the two-horizontal-spoke all-black, leather steering wheel comes with multi-switches and an electrically adjustable steering column (tilt, telescopic).

Its signature split-tailgate that features a powered-gesture function, auto-folding loadspace cover and versatile loadspace floor, opens up to 818-Litres of boot space.

Plus, for more loading needs, it also supports a roof load capacity of 100 KG, and towing capacity of 3,500 KG.

Weighing in at 2,585 KG, the new Range Rover L460 stands at 5,052 MM long, 2,047 MM wide, 1,870 MM tall, and with a wheelbase spanning 2,997 MM.

Refined with modern details instead of a complete overhaul, its familiar outlook now exudes a more luxuriously minimal and seamlessly solid silhouette, compared to its predecessor.

An imposing face, the front end’s elegantly blocky appearance sees a one-piece designed bumper. The top half is commanded by a rectangular grille with a thick surround and new mesh insert, and the lower half with a uniquely styled, wide-width rectangular intake, stretching from side to side.

Clean and smoothly boxy, the rear end’s boat tail-esque design projects a very large demeanour. It features a subtle yet sporty roof-edge spoiler paired to the ‘Range Rover’ script, bordered by a black trim in the middle of the tailgate.

Aside from the trademark dual shark fin roof antennas, fitted are more body-coloured, sleek and expensive-looking surfaces just like the rest of the body, which donates even more largeness to its stature and presence. Also, present is a black diffuser with silver trimming, matching the front end.

Adhering to the scheme, they are shaped elegantly boxy and are linked by the grille in a one-piece design. 

They are digital LED units with Predictive Adaptive Front Lighting, and an updated LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) signature graphic. 

New and unique, installed is a ‘Hidden-Until-Lit’ tail lamp concept. Seamless, slit-like, and vertically positioned at the sides of the tailgate, they are made of full LED units.

It rides on a set of 22-Inch (23-Inch optional) Style 7023, diamond turned with gloss black contrasting finish, multi-spoke alloy rims.

Installed is a 13.1-Inch high-resolution curved floating glass central touchscreen, featuring the Pivi Pro infotainment system.

The unit supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, Bluetooth connectivity and streaming, Wi-Fi enabled, sim card compatible (Online Pack with Data Plan), navigation and voice control.

Equipped is a 1,600-W Meridian sound system, featuring a 34-speaker and subwoofer setup.

Co-developed with BMW, the new Range Rover L460 harbours the familiar 4.4-Litre turbocharged V8 petrol engine.

The mill produces 523 HP/390-KW at 5,500 to 6,000 RPM and 750 NM of torque at 1,800 to 4,600 RPM.

Mated to the engine is a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission.

Power is transmitted to all four wheels (AWD), and is fitted with an electronically active rear locking differential, anchoring the SUV to the asphalt.

It can go from 0 to 100 KM/H in 4.6 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 KM/H.

The new Range Rover L460 is built with a sophisticatedly elegant appeal, while boasting uber space and practicality.

Its refined exterior is very well designed, with the clean and seamless lines donating a powerful overall contour, emphasising its commanding stature and presence.
