Highly anticipated, Leapmotor’s (Stellantis Malaysia) second local release, the all-new Leapmotor B10, officially launched in Malaysia.

A Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), the C-segment (mid-size crossover SUV) runner underpins Leapmotor’s LEAP 3.5 architecture.

Fully imported (CBU – China), available via Stellantis Malaysia are two variants (Life – RM108,500, Design – RM119,500).

Prices (OTR, w/o insurance) cover vehicle (six years/150,000 km) and battery (eight years/160,000 km) warranties. Service intervals (fixed – one year/20,000 KM).

Exterior-interior colours (Life: Metallic Black-Dark Grey, Light White-Dark Grey – Design: Metallic Black-Dark Grey, Light White-Dark Grey, Tundra Grey-Dark Grey, Starry Night Blue-Shadow Grey, Dawn Purple-Shadow Grey).

The all-new B10 has a cleanly-tiered dashboard, linked to a high-rising-floating centre console (NFC keycard holder, gear lever-omitted, wireless charger, storage, armrest).

Soft-/hard-touched (dash, steering wheel, centre console, doors), it sees upholstery (leatherette) and contrast panels (Aluminium, textured décor) in two colour schemes (Life: Dark Grey – Design: Dark Grey, Shadow Grey).

Equipped are the driver/central displays (floating: instrument cluster, infotainment), a dash storage (passenger side), air-conditioning system (vents: rectangular) and an ambient lighting system (Design: 64-colour, customisable, rhythmic).

Inclusively, the layout is ergonomic (functional) with accessibilities purposefully arranged (driver-centric, passenger-oriented).

Installed is an 8.8-inch TFT-LCD (Thin-Film Transistor-Liquid Crystal Display) fully digital (Multi-Information Display – MID) driver display (floating: instrument cluster), powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155P chip (Leap Operating System 4.0 Plus – Leap OS 4.0 Plus).

Features are driving displays, satellite navigation, Bluetooth, dual-zone voice command, Leapmotor mobile app (mobile key, remote access, remote control) and Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates.

Plush, the interior sees fabric (Life) and leatherette (Design: OEKO-TEX Standard 100 – baby-friendly silicone textile) upholsteries in two colour schemes (Life: Dark Grey – Design: Dark Grey, Shadow Grey).

The front gets manual-operated (Life: driver-passenger-multi-way-adjust, driver-passenger-full-recline) and electronic-powered (Design: driver-passenger-multi-way-adjust, driver-memory, driver-welcome mode, driver-passenger-full-recline, driver-passenger-heating-ventilation) bolstered seats.

The rear gets a manual-operated (backrest-adjust, 60:40 split-flat-fold) bolstered bench (three-seater).

Incorporated is a full-spread layout (front-rear-full-recline-seat-linkage – 2,390 mm long, 1,400 mm wide).

Drive is aided by an Electric Power Steering (EPS) system (turning radius: 5.25 m).

Practical storage spaces. E.g., glove box, centre console spaces (partitioned, caverned, retractable), pockets (seat backs, side doors), dash storage (passenger side) and a hidden boot space (under-boot floor).

Provided are four cup holders (two: front – two: rear) and four bottle holders (one – side doors).

Weighing in at 1,780 kg (Life) and 1,845 kg (Design), the all-new B10 stands at 4,515 mm long, 1,885 mm wide, 1,655 mm tall and with a wheelbase spanning 2,735 mm.

Steadily smooth and sportily sleek, its low-sitting exterior exudes a seamless aesthetic with clean cut and roundly refined contours.

The front-end sees a formed bonnet (raised sides, Leapmotor emblem), rounded quarter panels (‘Star Ring’ fenders, side scuttles) and a mildly sculpted bumper (grille: Active Grille Shutters – vents: corners – lip kit).

Accentuations, body clad (Black: lip kit, side sills) and body trims (Black: grille, vents, side scuttles, side mirrors, window surrounds, B-pillars – body-colour: bumper, fenders, door handles – Chrome: Leapmotor emblem).

Neatly shaped and horizontally lined, it continues the seamless aesthetic with an uprightly curvy and widened silhouette.

The rear-end sees a straight-cut roofline (roof-edge spoiler), an upright tailgate (Leapmotor script), rounded quarter panels (‘Star Ring’ fenders) and a covered bumper (exhaust-omitted).

Accentuations, body clad (Black: bumper, side sills) and body trims (Black: roof-edge spoiler, window surrounds, B/C-pillars – body-colour: roof-edge spoiler, bumper, fenders, door handles – Chrome: Leapmotor script/B10 emblem).

Sleek, the ‘Wing Star’ split (main: lower – DRLs: upper) headlamps are framed full width (centre light strip: upper) and cube-like (bumper embedded: lower). Installed are full LED (projectors) units.

Features are automatic On/Off/high-/low-beam/height-adjust, Automatic High Beam (AHB), ‘Chequered Flag’ Daytime Running Lights (DRL – LED), welcome/leaving lights and sequential turn signals (LED). Included is a set of fog lamps (LED).

Seamless, the ‘Wing Star’ tail lamps are framed full-width (centre light strip) with squared-wraparound edges. Installed are full LED units. 

Features are automatic On/Off, welcome/leaving lights, animated sequence (LED) and sequential turn signals (LED). Included is a high-mounted stop light (spoiler-integrated) and a set of fog lamps (LED).

The side mirrors (Black) are electronic-powered (Design: auto-fold – Life, Design: adjust), with turn signals (LED) and blind-spot indicators (Blind Spot Detection: BSD).

Included is an NFC keycard access point (tap – locking/unlocking).

Fitted are ventilated disc brakes (front, rear). Drive is aided by an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold system.

Included is a Regenerative Braking system (three levels, One-Pedal Drive).

Fitted (Life, Design) is a set of 18-inch (‘Star Sports’ – dual-tone: Black-Silver) aluminium alloy rims, wrapped in 225/50 R18 (front) and 235/50 R18 (rear) Linglong Sport Master e tyres.

The all-new B10 is equipped with the ‘LEAP Pilot’ suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Entertainment is channelled via an in-house-developed surround sound system (Life: six speakers – Design: 12 speakers). Included is an ‘AI (Artificial Intelligence) sound effect’.

Cocooned in the all-new B10 (Life, Design) is an all-electric e-powertrain (BEV).

Nestled (Life, Design) is a single-electric-motor (rear-mounted: Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor – PMSM) setup (160 kW/218 PS, 240 Nm).

Churning the setup is a single-speed automatic transmission.

Power is rooted to the rear wheels, via a Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) system (Life, Design).

0 to 100 km/h acceleration is done in 8 secs (Life, Design). Top speed is electronically capped at 170 km/h (Life, Design).

Underpinned is Leapmotor’s LEAP 3.5 architecture (Leap 3.0 Four-Leaf-Clover: LPEE 3.0 – Cell-To-Chassis 2.0 body-integrated battery pack: CTC 2.0 – 400 V system).

Powering the e-motors is a Lithium-Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack (Life: 56.2 kWh – Design: 67.1 kWh), enabling a total driving range (NEDC/WLTP) of 442 km/361 km (Life) and 516 km/434 km (Design).

AC charging (Type 2: 11 kW – Life, Design) takes 2.5 hours (Life) and 3.0 hours (Design) for a 30% to 80% State of Charge (SoC).

DC charging (CCS2: 140 kW – Life, 168 kW – Design) takes 20 mins (Life, Design) for a 30% to 80% SoC.

Included (Life, Design) is a Regenerative Braking system (three levels, One-Pedal Drive) and a Vehicle-To-Load (V2L – 3.3 kW) function for powering of external appliances.

Propping-up the e-chassis is a suspension setup of MacPherson struts (front) and multi-link (rear).

A suitable daily driver, the ride comfortability feels flexible and firm at the same time, providing great power with agile handling.

Inside and out, performance- and comfort-wise, the ride quality is satisfactory.
