Kuala Lumpur, December 17, 2020 - UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd, the official distributor for Toyota vehicles in Malaysia, has launched the facelifted Vios and Yaris.

Both pre-facelift models have been well received by Malaysian since their launch in 2019, with a total of more than 60,000 units sold nationwide.

Caricarz.com finds the updates done of both models were fascinating, such as the bolder and wider looking bumper design, LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights and following me home function, LED fog lights, more sporty alloy rims design, vehicle telematics system (VTS), 7-inch touchscreen head unit, LED lighted cup holders, and most importantly, the Toyota Safety Sense. However, most of these features are not available in the 1.5J variant.

Powering all three variants for both models is the 1.5-litre engine mated to the 7-speed continuously variable transmission that generates a maximum output of 106 hp at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 140 Nm at 4,200 rpm.

As for the equipment list, the LED headlamps, automatic air-conditioning system (available on all Vios variants), smart entry with push to start button, sport and ECO drive mode switch, two usb charging ports, blue illuminated front foot lights and illuminated door sills are available across all three variants. We must note that not all Yaris variants get the automatic air-conditioning system, only the Yaris 1.5G has it.

For the base variant (1.5J), it is equipped with 15-inch alloy wheels, cd player with tuner, rear drum brakes, 4 speakers sound system, fabric seats, bulb type rear tail lamps, power adjusted side mirrors, fixed rear seats urethane steering and gear knob, as well as analogue instrument cluster.

The 1.5E variant gets upgraded to the 16-inch wheels, LED tail lamps, power adjusted side mirrors with turn indicators, retractable and auto fold function, 60:40 split folding rear seats, Optitron instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch multi-info display, 7-inch touchscreen head unit, and multi-function steering wheel.

As for the range topping variant, the 1.5G variant comes with leather seats (except for Yaris), leather wrapped steering wheel, and gear knob, leather centre armrest, 6-speaker sound system, paddle shifters, chrome plated door handles, rear disc brakes, and auto dimming rear view mirror.

Standard safety features available across all variants include the 7-SRS airbags, vehicle stability control, traction control, hill-start assist, anti-lock braking system, electronic brake distribution, brake assist, emergency stop signal, auto door lock, parking sensors, seat belt warning, and ISOFIX child seat mounting points.

As for the Toyota Safety Sense safety suite, which includes the pre-collision warning, lane departure warning, 3D panoramic view monitor, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, are only available on the E and G variants. Both variants also get the VTS, premium security solar tinting film.

At the same time, UMW Toyota Motor has offered some optional accessories like the GR-S package, DVD-AVX with reverse camera, premium security solar tinting film and VTS for 1.5J variant customers, rear digital video recorder and aerokit package.

There are five colour options - Platinum Pearl White, Orange Metallic, Red Mica Metallic, Dark Blue Mica and Silver Metallic for Vios, while Yaris has three - Platinum Pearl White, Silver Metallic and Red Mica Metallic. Customers will need to pay an additional RM 400 for the Platinum White Pearl and Orange Metallic.

The facelifted Vios is priced at RM 74,623, RM 82,593, and RM 87,584, while the Yaris, it is retailed at RM 70,940, RM 80,380 and RM 84,808, for the 1.5J, 1.5E and 1.5G variants, respectively.
