Toyota Preserves History with Automobile Museum
The Toyota Automobile Museum was established in April 1989 in the heart of the automobile industry, Aichi Prefecture, Nagoya, Japan.
It was launched in honour of the 50th anniversary of the Toyota Motor Corporation as well as to celebrate the history of the automobile. The museum displays the development of automobiles from around the globe, all the way from the first gasoline-powered vehicle to the current all-electric and hybrid vehicles.
Majority of the vehicles that are displayed are preserved in roadworthy condition. On top of that, the museum also displays almost 4,000 pieces of items associated with automobile culture.
There are free guided tours in English as well as a free audio guide app is available for the public. The museum is also equipped with staff who speak foreign languages to accommodate the wants and needs of visitors.
Among the things offered at the venue include permanent exhibition, themed exhibition, collection and storage as well as restoration, events, surveys and studies, education support, restaurants, shops and cafes. Not forgetting that the museum can be accessed easily from Nagoya Station and Chubu Centrair International Airport.
The Toyota Automobile Museum has won multiple awards such as the 21st Chubu Architecture Award in 1989, the 1st Aichi Machinami Architecture Award in 1994 and most recently, the Japan Society for Exhibition Studies Award in 2020.
Some of the other museums run by Toyota include the Toyota Kaikan Museum, the Toyota Kuragaike Commemorative Hall, the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology and the Sakichi Toyoda Memorial House.
