EV Innovations Signs MoA with MARii, Homologation Phase to Begin
EV Innovations, a Malaysian electric vehicle company which spearheaded the MyKar project has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) in regards to the homologation process of the project, making it ready for manufacturing.
In conjunction with the MyKar project unveil, a signing ceremony was held in Sepang International Circuit which was attended by Datuk Ir. Khalilur Rahman Ebrahim from EV Innovations, Datuk Dr. Rameli Musa from Ingress Corporation Bhd, and MARii chief executive officer Datuk Madani Sahari.
The agreement will showcase the collaboration between EV Innovations and MARii in terms of local technologies development for application in the project. This includes EV platforms, system, integration initiatives as well as parts and components.
Included in the development are a Battery Management System (BMS), EV wireless charging technology, and communication protocols for vehicles which are readily available in MARii and are intellectual properties (IP) of the government agency.
It is reported that at least another five MyKar units will be manufactured for the testing and homologation phase which allows the project to progress from a prototype into a road worthy vehicle.
The MyKar project started in 2019, and the start-up initiative was designed, developed, and researched exclusively by Malaysian engineers. The main objective of the project was to produce an EV that accommodates the mass population as well as an EV which is technologically advanced and economically viable for the Malaysian and ASEAN automotive marketplace.
Another MoA was also signed between the two parties in regards to the manufacturing of parts.
The project is based on various technologies made by three different parties. System Consultancy Services develops electronics control, instrumentation and integration, DK Composites fabricates the outer layer and body of the vehicle while DNT Auto designed and fabricated the chassis and all mechanical components related to the pre-production vehicle.
