Honda Malaysia launched their very own Telematics Technology feature called Honda CONNECT.

This technology provides users with the benefits of being able to connect to their cars through a smartphone application.

The Honda CONNECT highlights Safety, Security and Convenience and includes important functions such as Vehicle Diagnostics, Remote Applications, Security Applications, Vehicle Tracking and Support Services.

Its Safety and Security function comes with an Automatic Collision Detection System, Security Alarm Detection, Speed Alert, Find My Car, Geo-Fencing Alert and Emergency Call.

With the Automatic Collision Detection System, drivers will be able to receive immediate support from Honda’s 24 Hours Roadside Assist Call Centre if the vehicle comes to an accident or if an airbag deploys in the car. In these cases, a notification will be sent to the Call Centre and emergency support will be dispatched. Not only that, the system will also be notified if collisions are detected.

As for the Security Alarm Detection, this feature allows the owner to remotely monitor the vehicle from any location. On top of that, a push notification will be sent to the owner and Honda’s 24 Hours Roadside Assist Call Centre when the car door, trunk or bonnet is forcibly opened.

Following that, the Find My Car feature allows drivers to locate their vehicle all through a map that is linked to the Honda CONNECT application on their smartphone.

Drivers will be sent an alert if the vehicle is being driven out of the set driving radius and speed limit with both the Speed Alert and Geo-Fencing Alert features. This will help to prevent more accidents in the future. With these features, the owner will also be allowed to fix the specific speed and location range in the system for in any case that the vehicle is being used by someone else.

Under the Convenience section, drivers will be equipped with Remote Vehicle Control; Car Status and Service Reminder; Vehicle Dashboard and Point of Interest (POI) search features. For Remote Vehicle Control, owners will be able to remotely lock and unlock the vehicle, as well as will be able to request for assistance from Honda’s 24 Hours Roadside Assist Call Centre to remotely unlock the doors if the car keys were accidentally left inside.

This function will also allow the owner to start or stop the car engine, switch on or off the air conditioning and switch on the lights of the vehicle to help the owner locate the parked car at night time, all remotely.

On the dashboard, the vehicle is equipped with Car Status and Service Reminder which includes vehicle information for alerts or reminders that will be displayed on the Honda CONNECT application. Also included is an emergency call function and driving behaviour as well as trip logs. The former two features will be able to record driving styles and data from the vehicle.

Furthermore, the Service Reminder function will give owners updates on previous service information that also includes reminders for next periodical maintenance. As for future vehicle service, users can look at Service History, Parts List and Estimation Cost, as well as contact their preferred Honda Dealership for a service appointment.

Next to that, the Remote Diagnostic Support feature will allow the system to detect any issues with the 11 main indicators which are Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Supplemental Restraint System, Brake System, Engine Malfunction, Charging System, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) System, Electric Power Steering (EPS) System, Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control System (ACC), Safety Support and Power System.

This application is also equipped with a One-to-One Message, Social Network Services (SNS) Posting and Customer Inquiry features. The One-to-One Message feature provides reminders to the users on service maintenance, insurance renewal and annual vehicle tax deadline. As for the SNS Posting, this permits users to share logs of their trip on their social media.

For a more successful customer-dealer relationship, Honda CONNECT will provide access to users to be able to directly contact the company or Honda dealers for any enquiries.
