Most Anticipated Perodua Ativa Launched
Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua), the largest national carmaker finally revealed the all-new Perodua Ativa with even cheaper prices.

“We have so far received some 5,000 bookings for the Perodua Ativa since we began collecting orders on February 19. We thank the public very much for their support. Deliveries will begin tomorrow (March 4, 2021), and we aim to deliver an average of 3,000 units a month,” said its president and chief executive officer Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad.
Available in three variants, the starting price for the Perodua Ativa is RM 61,500 for the X variant, RM 66,100 for the H variant and RM 71,200 for the AV variant on-the-road before insurance in Peninsular Malaysia. These prices are valid until June 30, 2021, due to the government’s sales tax exemption.
“The Perodua Ativa’s competitive pricing was made possible by its 95 percent localisation rate – the highest initial local content rate for any Perodua model. Even the engine and transmission are locally manufactured,” Zainal said.
Perodua Ativa stands at 4,065 mm long, 1,710 mm wide, and 1,635 mm tall, making it 70 mm longer and 15 mm wider than the Rocky. The wheelbase of the Ativa is 2,525 mm.
As for the boot, the Ativa comes with a generous 369 litres, as compared to the X50 that only has 330 litres. In order to save more space, the rear seats come with 60:40 split folding.
Zainal added that the Ativa involved 54 Malaysian designers and engineers, working together with Daihatsu since 2018.
The Ativa is a part of the company’s Transformation 3.0 era or better known as Perodua Smart Build that prioritises sustainability. Dato’ Zainal also mentioned that the Perodua Ativa is the result of the first truly smart partnership between Perodua and its technical and technology partner Daihatsu.
For customers who want a little more sparkle, the Ativa comes with Glittering Silver, Granite Grey and Cobalt Blue colours for the X and H variant, while the H will also receive additional colour options such as Pearl Diamond White and Pearl Delima Red.

As for the AV variant, it will be offered in all the colour options except for the shade of Cobalt Blue. as well as will also be given a special option of two Pearl shades coupled with a black roof.

Under the hood, the Ativa comes in the 1KR-VET 1.0-litre turbo three-cylinder engine like the Rocky that produces up to 98 hp at 6,000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque from 2,400 to 4,000 rpm. Not forgetting the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) type automatic transmission offered that sends power to the front wheels of the vehicle.
The SUV is also the first in the company to be equipped with Autonomous Driving Level 2 standards, as well as having a fuel consumption rate of 18.9 km/l, giving it the title of Fifth Energy-Efficient Vehicle (EEV) for Perodua Malaysia.
As for the interior of the Ativa, it is equipped with red corner air vent highlights, chrome door pulls, a chrome gearlever surround, a silver gear knob trim, as well as a chrome handle break button. Following that, there are red centre console storage compartments, six speakers, a driving video recorder and Lumar security window tint. It is finished in a faux leather and suede upholstery along with red highlights and a headrest strip.
It is also equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels for the X variant and 17-inch two-tone alloys wheels for the H and Av variants. There's also the Advanced Safety Assist (ASA*) 3.0, six airbags, automatic LED headlamps with Auto High Beam, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Adaptive Driving Beam for both H and Av variants, front centre armrest, a seven-inch TFT multi-info display and a nine-inch touch-screen infotainment system with voice recognition.

Some noteworthy convenience features inside include the 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The Ativa may not be compatible with Apple Carplay and Android Auto but Android users will be able to link their device to the screen through the SmartLink phone mirroring (HDMI port. The system also comes with a voice button to issue voice commands to the phone through Google Voice.
The instrument cluster in the vehicle is a 7.0-inch TFT screen that is fit with a rev counter and trip computer. Not only that, the system also allows date reminders and options for the ticking sound for the indicators. However, the vehicle does not come with a temperature gauge.
“We invite all Malaysians to our sales outlets nationwide – where strict COVID-19 guidelines are in place for the health and safety of all – to see, feel and test drive the Perodua Ativa ahead of the government’s sales tax exemption expiry in end-June,” said Zainal.
