Concern About Citizen, Government Delayed The Increase In Toll Rates
The government agrees to postpone the increase of toll rate until end of this year.

“The decision was reached through a Cabinet meeting last Wednesday after considering the rising cost of living of people that subsequently went throughout the pandemic. In addition, there are highways and toll plazas that continue to postpone the toll rate for the previous suspension, comprising 21 highways and one toll plaza for all classes of vehicles,” said senior minister of works Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
“Among them, there are North-South Expressway, Expressway Duta-Ulu Kelang (Duke), Damansara Puchong Highway (LDP) and the Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya Highway (MEX). A highway and two toll plazas are given permission to postpone its rates for Class 1 and class 5, while a highway and three toll plazas are allowed to postpone its 5-class vehicles only. Another highway involved the 2, 3, 4 and 5 vehicles only,” added Fadillah.

The suspension of this toll price increase caused the government to bear compensation in around RM 2.25 billion. At the same time, negotiations to restructure toll rates with concession companies are actively conducted where the Cabinet agrees to obtain the final decision before 2023.
"The Cabinet agrees to finalise before 2023. This compensation estimate is based on the compensation computation formula set out in the Concession Agreement and the actual amount of toll compensation payments will be determined after the Traffic Verification Process is conducted by the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM)," Fadillah said.
