PONSB Workers Union Demands Met By Proton
The fate of the PONSB Union (Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Sdn Bhd) was finally defended after the country's national vehicle company, Proton, agreed to meet the union's requests.
The PONSB union, which consists of Proton employees in Shah Alam, said they were not happy with Proton's top management because the national automotive company had failed to deliver their promises.
Following that, Proton is said to have asked its employees to give a high commitment in order to improve the company's performance.
Refer below to Proton’s requests to its employees:
- Workers were asked to work more than 10 hours for six times a week
- Employees are promised some incentives if the company’s targets are met
According to local media, Proton is said to have also promised to pay incentives, bonuses and several other benefits to its employees.
"Unfortunately, all the promises were not fulfilled by Proton until today, so we had to urge the top management of Proton to fulfil their promises immediately," said a representative of the association who did not want to be identified.
However, the issue was resolved when Proton CEO, Dr. Li Chunrong finally agreed to comply with the following requests:
- Held a re -discussion on the payment of Happy Operation Entity incentives that have failed to be paid since January 2021.
- 'Staff Purchase' Scheme, 'Staff Purchase 25 Years' Scheme and resuming the 'Staff Purchase' Scheme for immediate families.
- The 2020 bonus payments will be made on April 30.
To what extent the requests are met, we shall have to wait and see by the end of this month at the latest.
