Gandering at the overall build, the EV6 has been constructed with the company’s new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) that was introduced back in December 2020.
This electric vehicle (EV) architecture runs on an 800-Volt system, which allows it to have high charging speeds and promises a max range of 300 miles (482 km) under the EPA’s test cycle.

On that note, the company claims that charging the EV6 at peak capacity with a DC rapid charger will add 210 miles (338 km) of range in just 18 minutes.
Detailing the EV6 down, it comes rolling with four specifications, meaning four variants harbouring four different powertrains.

First variant, being the base model, has been fitted with a 58-kWh single rear motor that is capable of producing a maximum output of 167 hp.
Second variant is also another single motor rear-wheel drive model, which has an output of 218 hp that has been paired with a 77.4-kWh battery capacity.

Next up, is an all-wheel-drive model that has been fitted with two electric motors, paired to a larger battery pack. The two motors combined can generate a maximum output of 313 hp and have an acceleration time from 0 – 60 mph (0- 96 km/h) in 5.1 seconds.
Topping all of that is the EV6 GT variant. Its powertrain’s details are still unknown but the company claimed that it has a maximum power output of 576 hp and is able to dash from 0 – 60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just under 3.5 seconds.

Moving on to other aspects, the EV6 can be considered to be a rolling ‘power bank’, which makes it unique. This is because it has been installed with a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function that enables the EV6 the capabilities to charge anything.
Its ‘power bank’ capability can charge pretty much any household electrical appliances and can withstand up to 36 hours with the EV6’s battery fully charged.

Adding to that, it also has a Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capability. At which, the function allows it to charge other vehicles at a rate of 1.1 kW, equivalent to the charging rate of a 110-Volt household outlet.
Other than that, for the technical equipment installed, the EV6 features 21 different driver assistance and safety systems, an augmented reality head-up display and a live weather information display.

As for the interior amenities, the cabin features a 100 percent vegan leather option upholstery and, in the back, it offers up to about 1,515 litres of cargo space with the rear seat folded flat.
Kia North America and Kia America’s president and chief executive officer Sean Yoon concluded, “The EV6 marks a new and transformative era in Kia electrification. This innovative crossover leverages the many benefits of its advanced platform to offer a level of technological excitement and convenience that will provide a superb ownership experience.”

Evidently, for all the Kia enthusiasts out there, the EV6 GT variant will only be available in late 2022. Albeit, for the three other EV6 models, it will hit the showrooms sometime early next year.
