Xingyue L Unveiled, Modernistic Take on Space and Time: Geely Auto
The largest privately-owned Chinese brand, Geely Auto (Geely), has revealed its recent high-end SUV to the public at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show. Named the Xingyue L, the SUV sits on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) and extends Geely Auto’s preface concept.
Xingyue L is powered by Volvo and Geely’s jointly-developed 2.0-litre turbo direct injection engine along with either Geely’s 7-speed wet dual-clutch or Aisin’s 8-speed automatic transmission. Two tuning options are available: a high-powered version that produces 234 hp and 380 Nm, which allows for a century sprint in 7.7 seconds, or a mid-powered version with 214 hp and 325 Nm, which completes a century sprint in 7.9 seconds.

Measuring at a wide 1,610mm wheel track and long 2,845mm wheelbase, the vehicle features a front and bold energy with its signature Expanding Cosmos grille. Three-segmented matrix front headlamps are also fitted, comprising 126 individually controllable LEDs for even and bright lighting.

Moving to the rear, dot-matrix tail lamps with 176 LEDs are equipped with the Xingyue L. When viewing the Xingyue L from the back, the lights connected by a strip create the visual effect of a cosmic aurora.

Said to be inspired by classical Eastern images of high mountains and flowing rivers, the SUV presents a panoramic integrated cockpit space: A metre long infotainment screen connecting the co-pilot to the driver, stacked atop the driver’s digital instrument panel. The dual-toned interior and custom suede are present throughout the interior, with the seats incorporating Chinese weaving elements.

Technology-wise, the Xingyue L is fitted with the 10 speaker high-performance BOSE sound system combined with noise reduction technology and double-layered soundproofing to ensure a serene environment. Interior lighting has also been upgraded to the next level, with a 72-color atmospheric lighting scheme that varies depending on the driving mode.
Five driving modes are available: an energy-efficient ECO mode, NORM mode, SPORT mode, SNOW mode, and a powerful OFFROAD mode.
Beyond L2 autonomy, the Xingyue L includes Geely’s latest 5G-enabled, completely unmanned automated valet system. Within a 200-meter radius, such as a parking lot, the Xingyue L can drive itself, search for spots, and park itself. The exact reverse can also be accomplished by requesting that the Xingyue L pick up the user within a 200-meter radius.
Similar to the Preface in terms of connectivity, the SUV comes with full firmware OTA, allowing fundamental aspects of the vehicle such as intelligent safety, power, chassis, and autonomous drive to be upgraded over time.

Geely’s Xingyue L is set to be launched in the Chinese market sometime soon, with plans to go global alongside it.
