As Colourful As Life, BMW Initiates Production With Individual Paintwork Finishes
Derived from the motto, “Cars as colourful as us”, the automotive world in Leipzig has just welcomed an array of new paint options - with the plant finishing vehicles in Individual paintwork, which kick-started recently.

The vehicles in question are the BMW 1 Series and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, which will now be offered in 160 Individual colour options - including Speed Yellow, San Marino Blue and Verde Ermes Green.

It is reported that BMW Group Plant Leipzig’s order books with Individual finishes are filled up till the end of the year, with the following significant order set for 180 units of the BMW 118d in Hockenheim Silver, Ruby Red and Sepia Violet for BMW Japan.

With the additional option of creating their colours, customers can expect a lead time of their vehicle in about ten weeks. The Individual finishes can also be applied to smaller model series, which the existing system has been upgraded to cater to special paints.
The paint shop team has since been expanded to attend to the extra service and supervision work due to the unique new colours. This is also because some processes can no longer be automated, and some painting processes may be time-consuming and complex.
While the Individual paint finishes are only available at Plant Leipzig for the time being, there is a trend of orders which reveals a few fan-favourites: yellows, blues, reds and violet hues have caught the interest of these vehicle owners.
For more information on the full range of the Individual finishes, interested parties can head down to the BMW Individual Visualiser.
