1,000 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Expected To Be Ready In 2022
The Selangor state government has aimed to install 1000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations by next year and 10,000 stations by 2025.
As outlined by Selangor MB Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, he mentioned that the state is looking to pioneer EV usage, and the development of a charging infrastructure would help expand that scope in a faster fashion.
Amirudin also said that there would be a future collaboration between the state government and private parties involving an investment value of RM10 million.
He did, however, say that incentives would be provided to businesses and industries that invest in EV infrastructure projects, and there would be no public parking charges imposed on EVs next year. “The incentives include a reduction of business fees and assessment tax. Apart from that, parking fees which come under the jurisdiction of the local authorities will also be waived for EV users in 2022,” he explained.
In other news, it has been estimated by JPJ that around 3.78 million drivers in Malaysia drive their cars around without a valid road tax.
Nevertheless, you will still be able to renew your road tax until 31 December 2021 without any hassle because JPJ will be operating on the weekends to reduce congestion and long lines.
