The 10 Most And Least Reliable Cars In 2021 According To Consumer Reports
For 2021, Toyota was no longer on top of the list, losing its seemingly unshakable perch to the previously second-place in the Auto Reliability Rankings; Mazda.
Nonetheless, Toyota still performed well with the brand placing second and its luxury brand, Lexus, third.
At the bottom of the list is Ford’s luxury brand, the Lincoln, while Tesla placed second to last.
The result was reflected by data reported by more than 300,000 car owners. The better the score, the fewer problems were reported in the last 12 months for vehicles from the previous three model years.
In addition, there’s also a list of the top 10 most-reliable cars of 2021, ranking the Toyota Prius at the top, and the ten least reliable, with the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups ranked as the least reliable.
The brand with the highest score among 26 rated brands was Mazda due to its iterative approach to vehicle redesign, making it less likely to experience defects due to new technology.
But Mazda still has a stylish design that ensures its vehicles aren't stodgy, said Jake Fisher, senior director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports.
Here is Consumer Reports' ranking of the major automotive brands, according to their average reliability score:
