Galloping With An Array Of Upgrades From Head To Toe, The 2022 Ford Mustang
Galloping with more personalisation features and thrills direct from the factory, Ford introduces an all-new appearance package and performance upgrades for the 2022 model year Mustang.
Come in twos, the Blue Oval’s new updates debut their first-ever Stealth Edition Appearance Package for the EcoBoost Premium model.
Meanwhile, the Mustang GT California Special offers, also for the first time a GT Performance Package option.
Mustang’s brand marketing manager, Jim Owens, commented, “Since 1965, Mustang has been synonymous with performance and play, and the 2022 model year continues that call with the new Stealth Edition and an updated Cali Special.” Mustang owners have always loved personalising their ride, and these new flavours of Mustang are ready to inspire and excite new enthusiasts.”
To begin with, the first-ever Stealth Edition joining the Mustang line-up adds even more style to the already sporty 310 hp turbocharged Mustang EcoBoost Premium model.
Significantly, the Stealth Edition Appearance Package stays true to its name by giving customers a more menacing-looking fastback with uniquely blacked-out appointments.
It features 19-inch Ebony Black-painted aluminium wheels, black pony badges, performance rear wing, black mirror caps, and new clear LED tail lamp covers.
Diving inside, unique new interior appointments elevate the exterior styling, which include a matte and gloss black instrument panel badge and lighted sill plate.
As for the paint job, the Stealth Edition is available in Atlas Blue, Carbonized Gray, Dark Matter and Shadow Black.
Owens added, “The black accents really give the car a whole new persona, sinister and sporty all at once. Naturally, the package needed the right name. Stealth Edition says it all.”
Next comes the California Special, which adds to the Mustang’s excitement with a GT Performance Package treatment.
Since the first-generation Mustang, the California Special has represented a uniquely regionalised appearance package with special styling cues.
Now, with the updated version, the 2022 Mustang GT California Special further embodies this tradition on the 2022 Mustang GT Premium fastback and convertible models.
Notably, the latest California Special Appearance Package pays homage to the original version’s blacked-out grille, side racing stripes and rear fender scoop.
Detailed further, the GT Performance Package adds a larger bottom splitter to the front end, while the honeycomb grille with the ‘GT/CS’ badge provides a unique look.
Then, heritage-inspired ‘GT/CS’ side stripe trademark traces from the front fender to the signature rear fender scoop.
Complementing the rear end and unique to the package, a California Special badge in Ebony Black and Race Red script adorns the trunk lid.
Besides that, a performance rear wing from the GT Performance Package is available for the fastback model, while spoiler delete configuration is standard for the California Special convertible.
Topping it all off, the California Special equips a set of unique five-spoke 19-inch all-black machined wheels to transfer all of its galloping prowess onto the tarmac.
Also, under the hood, this special edition features a signature strut tower brace with California Special badge atop its 5.0-litre V8 engine.
Interior-wise, it includes rich black Miko suede-trimmed door inserts, suede-trimmed seats with the embossed ‘GT/CS’ logo and red contrast stitching, and custom embroidered ‘GT/CS’ floor mats.
In addition to that, the instrument panel is finished in carbon hex aluminium with a signature California Special script badge on the passenger side.
Being a California Special-first, the GT Performance Package offered enables better handling and driving dynamics for the most capable California Special ever.
Said package adds an array of features, including Brembo six-piston front brake callipers, overall lower ride height, unique stability control and electric power steering tuning.
Adding to that list are unique chassis tuning with heavy-duty front springs, larger tubular rear sway bar, K-brace, strut tower brace, front subframe V-brace and TORSEN limited-slip differential.
Last but not least, it also comes with 19 x 9-inch front and 19 x 9.5-inch rear wheels wrapped with Pirelli summer tires to further the handling grip.
Shade-wise, the California Special is available in Atlas Blue, Carbonized Gray, Cyber Orange, Dark Matter, Grabber Blue Metallic, Iconic Silver, Rapid Red, Shadow Black and Oxford White.
That said, orders for the 2022 Mustang, including Stealth Edition and California Special, open later this year and are due in showrooms in the first quarter of 2022.
