The Record-Breaking And Fastest Bugatti, The Chiron Super Sport’s Production Commences

The Chiron Super Sport, the record-breaking high-speed run and fastest Bugatti ever made, has finally entered the production stage after making its debut two years ago.

Tagging a price upwards of RM 16 million, this superfast ‘longtail’ model is limited to just 30 units, with the first eight units having just rolled off the factory floor in Molsheim, France.

Making the Super Sport a standout is its single-minded focus on top speed, as Bugatti states that from the front splitter to the rear diffuser, every centimeter of its skin is designed for said purpose.

To begin with, Bugatti’s iconic W16, 8.0-litre quad-turbocharged engine now makes 1,600 hp and 1,600 Nm of torque, which is a 100 hp bump over the regular Chiron.

Mated to it is a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that transfers the juice onto the asphalt via all four wheels.

As such, churning with insurmountable power, the Chiron Super Sport can hit a 200 km/h acceleration speed from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds and reach a massive 440 km/h top speed.

Some changes were made to realize this crazy Vmax speed, including a new rear section that stretches an extra 250 mm lengthwise over the regular Chiron. This is to reduce drag by 40 percent.

Besides that, present at the top of the front fenders are holes to release the air pressure generated from the spinning wheels, thereby generating streamlined downforce at the front. 

That’s not all, flipping to the rear, there’s also a more prominent diffuser fitted to the lower bumper, which improves the Super Sport’s aerodynamics.

Completing it are the wheels, a set of bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres specially designed and x-rayed to ensure they’ll stay in one piece when it’s spinning at those super speeds.

Notably, the company also claimed that this setup is the first wheel combo rated to have a safely consistent drive of up to 500 km/h.

Overall, the first eight to roll out are all cloaked in a black exterior paint job with bright orange stripes running along the top from the bonnet to the wings, akin to the original Super Sport.
