Workshops In Klang Are Expected to Receive More Than 20,000 Flood-Damaged Cars To Fix
Workshops in Klang are expected to receive more than 20,000 flood-damaged vehicles to fix.
People in the two most affected areas, Klang and Shah Alam have started to send their cars for repairs after water is reported to subside gradually.
The severe recent flood incident has caused tens of thousands of cars to be seriously damaged. It is estimated that 20,000 cars have been flooded. Most cars will be sent to the car repair plants in Klang, Selangor for repairs.
People in Klang and Shah Alam have started cleaning their houses and sending their cars for repairs after water is reported to subside gradually.
Peter Tan, Pasukan Tindakan Suara Rakyat Society Activist, pointed out in an interview with the "China Press" earlier that there are about 3,000 car repair shops in Klang. Most of the car repair shops are fully booked for now.
"It is estimated that a car repair shop can only handle 5 to 6 cars a day."
“Cost to clean a car will be hundreds of ringgits, but flooded cars with engine or electric board damages will take thousands of ringgits and 10 to 20 days to fix.”
Tan also added that a higher cost is required to fix a flood-damaged plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). Judging from the current situation where electric vehicles are not popular, the maintenance procedure will be very complicated.
