Young Malaysian Engineers Get to Experience Hands On At The FIA World Endurance Championship
The Technology Transfer Apprenticeship Program (TTAP), developed by the Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) along with Persona Energy Sdn Bhd, has presented the appreciation awards to four young gentlemen where they have completed their journey in a placement programme with the JOTA team at the 2021 World Endurance Championship.
The selected apprentices - Anderson Kent Robert, Luqman Othman, Muhammad Amzar Danish Chairil and Muhammad Taufiq Mohd Zin.
TTAP is a groundbreaking technology transfer programme is designed to develop local automotive talent and technology expertise through apprenticeships with local engineers to acquire vital engineering knowledge in endurance racing technology for the FIA World Endurance Championship.
They were mentored by Jazeman Jaafar and JOTA Technical Director Tomoki Takahashi. The latter also have spent their time with automotive and motorsport industry leaders McLaren and Xtrac Transmission UK to extend their skills in motorsport engineering.
During the (TTAP) Engineer Appreciation Award & Presentation Ceremony, the Senior Minister and International Trade and Industry Minister, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said it is needed to encourage new talents in Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) engineers, data scientists, robot technicians, and digital supply chain strategists.
As part of the JOTA team members, they were tasked with several engineering duties such as collecting and analysing the performance race car’s component, design and layout setting of workshop equipment, and the race car’s maintenance part.
Part of the journey took place at the JOTA factory in the UK. The TTAP engineers were granted full access to the inner workings with areas such as vehicle workstations, component and composite rooms, and simulators.
Then, another exposure to the TTAP engineers and JOTA team where they experience the working ambience back at the factory to analyse simulation data from Jazeman Jaafar, Anthony Davidson and Antonio Felix De Costa during the 24 hours of Le Mans event.
A success to the team as they have achieved second and third placement in the Driver’s and Team’s Titles, guaranteeing inaugural TTAP program supporting JOTA’s 2021 World Endurance Championship Campaign.
“I look forward to nurturing more Malaysians talents and to give them the opportunities they deserve and more victories in 2022,” said the TTAP Director and Persona Energy Executive Director, Jazeman Jaafar.
