CATL Launched Its New Apps - EVOGO
Contemporary Amperex Technology Co (CATL) has entered the electric vehicle (EV) battery swapping game with the launch of EVOGO, a 'block-based’ battery swapping system inspired by chocolate blocks.
"Choco-SEB" is the term for each chocolate-inspired battery block that offers around a 200km range, whereas the actual range is derived from a person’s driving style.

Each EVOGO station will have 48 blocks ready for on-demand swapping for a single battery block, with an energy density of over 160Wh/kg, or 325Wh/L. The battery can also fit 80 percent of EVs available on the market and the upcoming models in the next three years.
Through these apps, users no need to go through the hassle just to recharge their car batteries where now users may change car batteries at swap stations. Besides swapping batteries, EVOGO is a platform to solve issues concerning range anxiety, fuel inconvenience, and the high total cost of ownership.

Battery swapping is common in China, and Nio, a China carmaker, is the first EV carmaker that implements this system with almost 800 stations in China. The process is relatively rapid as one does not have to recharge the car batteries and swap them to a fully charged one within a few minutes.
EV vehicles are expensive, which is true. However, with the battery swapping market entering the world, one could subscribe to "battery-as-a-service" as EV owners could use this service as it is a monthly payment model specifically for its batteries.

“The company will launch the services in 10 cities in mainland China,” said Chen Weifeng, general manager of CATL subsidiary Contemporary Amperex Energy Service technology.
Additionally, NIO and CATL are offering battery swap services to lower prices to EV buyers in China.
CATL has offered its services to big car marques such as Tesla, NIO and Volkswagen, and the most current one is Fiska. Fisker Inc. has shared that CATL will be supplying batteries to its flagship vehicle, the Ocean electric SUV.
