JPJ To Launch E-Testing System In April - In Conjunction With The JPJ’s 76th Celebration
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will launch the e-testing system. This intelligent system can measure a candidate’s performance via an electronic driving test and generates the test result in real-time coming this April.
According to the Road Transport Department (JPJ) director-general, Zailani Hashim, JPJ is now at the stage of the proof of concept (POC)of the automated driving test and training system.
Expected to be launched during JPJ’s 76th celebration, the number of testers would eventually be reduced to two once the e-testing system is implemented because the process will be made easier and faster by tech gadgets assistance.
Even better, the results of the tests will be revealed on the spot compared to two weeks waiting time currently.
“The e-testing system still involves class learning, circuit and road sessions. But the officer and candidate will not sit together in the car during the circuit session while the other two would remain unchanged”, added Zailani.
For the record, the system has been implemented in countries like South Korea and Japan.
Amidst the digitalisation services in Malaysia, JPJ is adapting its business to hybrid methods in stages to ensure that process of getting driving licenses becomes more convenient.
“This can ease counter congestion. Renewal can also be done online anywhere and at any time,” he said.
Meanwhile, Zailani said JPJ targeted revenue collection this year to rise to RM4.12 billion compared to RM4 billion last year with the digitisation effort.
100 additional kiosks will be received by JPJ this year to be stationed at its branches nationwide and selected locations, such as the finance ministry and the prime minister’s department, and 20 mobile vans.
With the availability of the facility and additional budget like this, the department is confident of collecting a revenue of RM4.12 billion for 2022.
JPJ earned RM7.4 million from an 80 percent discount on all summonses provided in conjunction with the Malaysian Family Aspiration festival, which was extended until December 31 last year, according to Zailani.
