Debuted At The Tokyo Auto Salon, Subaru’s STI E-RA Concept And SOLTERRA STI Concept

Debuted at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2022, Subaru Corporation and its motorsport subsidiary, Subaru Tecnica International Inc. (STI), presents the STI E-RA concept and SOLTERRA STI concept.

Significantly, these two electric concepts revealed at the Makuhari Messe convention centre last January look stunning with an extremely well-designed exterior and interior.

First off, the STI E-RA concept is a model based on the STI E-RA electric race car, which is being developed under the STI E-RA Challenge Project.

According to Subaru, said e-concept is aimed to set a lap time record of 6 minutes and 40 seconds at the Nürburgring circuit from 2023 onwards.

In the meantime, before the ultimate Nürburgring circuit testing, the e-concept will be tested at Japanese racing circuits throughout 2022.

Outstandingly, this all-wheel drive e-concept has four Yamaha motors, generating an output of 800 kW (1,088 PS/1,073 hp), with a 60-kWh lithium-ion battery driving the motors. 

Besides that, the e-concept is designed to maximise speed with elements that are key to Formula 1 cars, where there are cut-outs in its body to maximise the airflow for the acceleration.

Moving on to the Solterra STI concept, it is based on the car that made its world debut in November 2021, the Solterra all-electric SUV. 

However, not much info about it was disclosed by Subaru except, to the naked eye it looks like a sportier and performance-oriented version of the all-electric SUV it is based on. 

Notably, the model inspires the company’s superior driving dynamics, with equipment such as a roof spoiler, cherry-red under spoilers, and other special parts on its exterior.

All in all, other cars exhibited at the event were the LEVORG STI performance concept, WRX S4 STI performance concept, Subaru BRZ STI performance custom car and Subaru BRZ GT300 2021 race car.
