The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has announced a total unit of 40,581 vehicles which the number has increased by 8 percent higher compared to last month in January 2022 although forecasted only 40,000 will be produced and sold in the market.

According to MAA, the sales progression made resulting from auto companies ramped up production to fulfil backlog orders.

Several auto brands launched new vehicles in February 2022- Volkswagen Golf all three variants, upgraded Toyota Camry, Mercedes C-Class, the facelifted BMW X4 and X3 family along with facelifted Honda Odyssey.

As of now, EV cars are leading this month for launching as spotted Mercedes EQA, IONIQ 5 and Volvo Recharge Pure Electric among electric vehicles that have made their debut.

With a rise of 10 percent for February 2022, year-to date sales volume counted higher than similar corresponding period year 2021 resulting from 76,840 to 84,303 units.

The association expects a better month in March, in car sales precisely as it’s a longer working month as well as pushing for higher sales as companies having their financial year ending on 31 March 2021.
