2022 Yamaha YZF-R15M Launched – Price Is From RM14,998
The new Yamaha YZF-R15M model was introduced by Hong Leong Yamaha Motor at a starting price of RM14,998. The new machine is available in two colour options, The Signature M and Monster Energy Edition, and is inspired by the racing style and technology of the YZF-R1M and YZR-M1.
Datuk Dr Jim Khor, Group Managing Director of Hong Leong Industries Bhd, stated that the R15M was created in accordance with Yamaha's racing DNA, which has resulted in legendary machines such as the M1, R1M, and R series.
"The R15M inherits the DNA of Yamaha's flagship YZF-R1M and YZR-M1 and takes racing to the next level while always attempting to go beyond the limits and increase riding fun," he said at the new model's launch here today.
The M-CRU exclusive membership programme will be automatically enrolled in new Yamaha YZF-R15M owners.
M-CRU membership entitles members to exclusive track days, advanced riding courses, special MotoGP Convoy Experiences, and exclusive offers to own items for M-CRU members only.
The new Yamaha YZF-R15M is powered by a 155CC SOHC fuel injection engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology for maximum power and fuel economy.
The model also includes a grip control system, 'assist and slipper clutch' for a smoother gear change, and is the first Yamaha single-cylinder motorcycle to include a 'quickshifter' system for easier gear changes.
In terms of safety, the R15M includes a side stick with an engine shut-off switch, as well as two-way ABS for braking confidence even at high speeds.
The Yamaha YZF-R15M has received a five-star rating from the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) for its safety features as part of the Malaysian Motorcycle Assessment Program (MyMAP), an initiative to promote safer motorcycles in Malaysia through the use of safety technology on motorcycles and raise consumer awareness on riding safety.
