GAC Emkoo Concept Could Go To Production And Arrive In Malaysia
Tan Chong Group agreed to be the local distributor for Chinese automaker GAC last year. They started with the GS3 compact SUV, but it hasn't made much of an impact so far. Perhaps they require something larger and more futuristic, such as GAC's EMKOO Concept car.
The EMKOO debuted in Guangzhou in April 2022, representing GAC Motor's new design concept known as 'Hi-tech Industrial Aesthetics.' This design language features sharp feature lines and positions the car in a dynamic stance. GAC refers to it as a glimpse of the future.
The front lighting elements are well integrated into the sharp and dazzling "Eyes of Revelation" headlamp matrixes. They are intelligently programmed to light up sequentially and individually to provide a theatrical visual experience. The EMKOO's memorable front fascia is defined by a V-shaped "Illuminant Grille."
The layered lighting strips are featured on the radial grille bars, drawing a parallel between time and space. GAC EMKOO's low-nose, high-tail side profile is inspired by the shape of a recurve bow and conveys the fullness of energy about to be unleashed.
In the dark, the split taillight strips, dubbed "Quantum Lightsabers," form a red crescent. The rear end features an avant-garde design with an aerodynamic rear spoiler and dual vertical exhaust.
The inner space, on the other hand, showcases the facets of sensual experience. Circles, the Chinese word for "sublimity" and "perfection," set the theme of the interior design when combined with intelligent technology.
The round Energy-Storing Scroll, when activated, is meant to be the pinnacle of futuristic industrial design. It also contains a number of functional components, such as the centre screen and rotating air vents.
Despite being in the concept stage, the EMKOO has many technical details worked out. This indicates that GAC Motor is serious about putting it into production in the near future. The EMKOO measures 4,680mm from bumper to bumper, 1,901mm in width, and 1,670mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,750mm and a weight of 1,915kg.
The GAC EMKOO will also have a few powertrain options. The Mega Wave Hybrid System is the first. The 2.0L Atkinson cycle petrol engine is paired with the company's 2nd generation electrified system. To meet the needs of a diverse market, a Mega Wave powertrain system with a smaller 1.5L TGDI engine and a standard petrol 2.0 turbo model will be available.
