The government has announced the provision of free services for a month starting today for all public transport operated by RapidKL.
According to local news, the free fares include MRT, Light Rail Transit (LRT), Rapid Transit (BRT), monorail and RapidKL buses.
Through the opening of this route, the government is confident that areas along the line such as Jinjang, Sungai Buloh, Kepong and Bandar Sri Damansara will develop more rapidly, on par with areas in other cities.
Starting 3pm today, the Putrajaya Line MRT Phase One which covers 12 stations including three stations that originally part of Kajang Line MRT will be open to the public.
This includes 13 intermediate bus routes that will start operations at the same time to provide services to residential and commercial areas located in areas near the station such as Bandar Sri Damansara, Taman Ehsan, Taman Kepong, and Bandar Baru Selayang.
Apart from that, the nine new stations opened are Damansara Damai, Sri Damansara Barat, Sri Damansara Sentral, Sri Damansara Timur, Metro Prima, Kepong Baru, Jinjang, as well as Sri Delima and Kampung Batu.
In conjunction with the official opening of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Putrajaya Line Phase One today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob stated that he hopes the Malaysian families will take this opportunity to try this public transport service and park their vehicles at Park N Ride and #JomNaikMRT.
Also present during the launching were Minister of Finance, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz; Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Economy), Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed; Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong and MRT Corp Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Datuk Mohd Zarif Mohd Hashim.
