Toyota GR GT3 Supercar Patent Images Leaked!

The sleek Toyota GR GT3 concept was first revealed at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon in January, but rumours of a road-going version are now circulating.

The potential supercar has many of the design features of the concept, albeit with a subtle ducktail rear spoiler instead of the large swan-neck-style rear wing, according to leaked patent images shared by a user on GR Corolla Forum.

The patent images show the GR GT3 with a very low front spoiler, a long bonnet, bonnet vents, a side-exit exhaust, center-lock wheels, a full-width rear light bar, and a massive rear diffuser.

It's unclear whether all of these racing-inspired design elements will make it onto any road-going version of the Toyota GR GT3 concept.

It's also unclear what Toyota will call the road-going supercar, as GR GT3 technically refers to the racing version.

Toyota stated previously that the GR GT3 concept is a racing car designed to demonstrate "the knowledge and refined technologies Toyota Gazoo Racing has gained in the field of motorsports."

Previously, the Japanese automaker stated that it plans to use feedback from the GR GT3 concept and its motorsports technologies to develop both GT3 and "motorsports-bred" mass-production vehicles in the future.

Given that TGR currently races a Lexus RC F with no strong link to the GR Sport brand, the GR GT3 concept is most likely a preview of a new entry for GT3 racing.

Toyota hasn't officially revealed anything else about the road-going GR GT3 concept since its unveiling.

The Toyota GR GT3 concept shares no styling cues with the existing GR lineup, which includes the GR Yaris, GR Supra, GR 86, LandCruiser GR Sport, and C-HR GR Sport.

The GR GT3 concept does have a visual connection to the Lexus Electrified Sport Concept, which was recently unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2022.

With its dramatically raked rear window, squat stance, and curvaceous lines, the Lexus Electrified Sport Concept shares the same silhouette as the Toyota GR GT3 concept.

The Lexus Electrified Sport Concept is said to be an all-electric successor to the LFA supercar's V10 engine

Lexus president Koji Sato previously stated that the Electrified Sport Concept will have a 0-100km/h time "in the low 2-second range," as well as a driving range of "over 700km."

The Toyota GR GT3 concept and the Lexus Electrified Sport Concept are unrelated, but both could become flagship supercars for the Japanese brands.

For the time being, we will have to wait and see what Toyota and Lexus have planned for their upcoming flagship supercars.
