Wuling Electric Car Could Soon Outsell Perodua Axia!
With an electric car, the game changes, and Edaran Tan Chong Motor, has been looking at new automotive brands from China in recent years, and they previously launched the JMC pickup truck under their sister company.
With an assembly plant in Serendah, Selangor, they could easily begin production of a compact electric car to compete with the Perodua Axia. As a result, the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV has been spotted in Malaysia and has recently been spotted on test at the Tan Chong Serendah factory.
The Wuling four-seater mini car is a useful tool for daily urban commuting. The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, which was inspired by the popular kei car in Japan, has an acceptable interior with four seats.
In China, the Wuling outsold the Tesla Model 3 in 2020, and it will be available in EV-friendly Thailand in 2021 for RM49,000. This year, it was announced that the Wuling EV would be built in Bekasi, West Java for the Indonesia market, with a tax-free price starting at USD4,500 (RM19,900 plus after sales and dealership costs), implying that this compact EV could be priced as low as RM29,800 in Malaysia.
