Cement Truck Lost Control, Crashed Into 3 Vehicles On NSE

A cement mixer truck ploughed into the backs of two vehicles at the North-South Highway (NSE) this morning before crashing into an expressway divider and into a third vehicle in the opposite lane.

A driver of a four-wheel drive vehicle suffered head injuries in the 10am incident at Km336.3 of the NSE.

The accident caused a three-kilometre traffic congestion in both directions along the NSE between Tapah and Bidor, according to Tapah police head Superintendent Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail.

Initial investigations, according to him, showed that the cement mixer truck driver was travelling south in the left lane when he crashed into the Audi and the four-wheel drive.

"The crash led to the truck driver losing control of his vehicle, which skidded and hit the expressway's divider before it entered the opposite direction and collided with a Toyota Yaris.

"Upon impact (with the Toyota Yaris), the cement mixer truck landed in a drain. The 28-year-old cement truck driver escaped unhurt."

He said that the four-wheel drive car's driver received emergency medical attention at the Tapah Hospital.

Police also is in the process to conduct a urine test on the cement truck driver, who hails from Sungai Siput here.

The case is being investigated under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
