An updated Proton Exora launches this Friday

Proton is poised to unveil an updated version of its long-running MPV model, the Exora, this week. This comes from its recent posting on its official Facebook page where it posted the above teaser poster confiriming that the new MPV will be unveiled this Friday,  Aug 19.

First launched back in 2009, the Proton Exora has been around for about 13 years now. Said model has undergone a number of updates and revisions over the years since, with the latest being performed by Proton back in 2019.

Roslan Abdullah, Deputy CEO of Proton, had previously statedthat the Exora will get a makeover this year, therefore it is most likely that this is the change that has been planned for the brand's people-mover. He also confirmed that this new upgrade will be much more significant than the one performed back in 2011, but not nearly the same extent as what the face-lifted Saga model underwent back in May this year.

The caption on the social media post, "The performance to run free," likely suggests that we'll see a revised powertrain, perhaps with improved performance too. Much of this stems from Roslan's previous confirmation that Proton were working on a new and more durable version of the oil cooler hose (OCH) - a problematic component that has afflicted the Exora’s existing CFE engine.

What is certain though is that there will be a alight price hike. Presently, the Exora's prices read between RM59,800 and RM66,800. In contrast, its nearest rival, by which we mean the recently launched second-gen Perodua Alza, sports slightly higher prices that range between  RM62,500 and RM75,500.
