Japanese electronics and watchmaking giant Casio expanded its Edifice timepiece range recently after introducing yet another motorsport-themed special. Christened the Casio Edifice EQB-2000HR Honda Racing Red Edition, it celebrates Japanese automaker Honda’s performance car heritage.

Based on the Edifice EQB-2000 high-performance chronograph, this special sports a case design inspired by the suspension arms seen in formula racecars, whilst it’s the red color scheme it adopts is the same used by Honda in its iconic red badges as seen in its performance and race cars – things like the Civic Type-R, Integra Type-R, and NSX-R comes to mind here.

Said paint is also used for the red Honda badge on the bottom-side strap attachment, with the badge itself mirroring the design seen in the RA271 – Honda’s first ever Formula 1 racecar from 1964. The same shade of red is again employed in the X at the dial’s centre, thus giving this timepiece a more striking, bold and powerful design altogether.

Other key details present include the newly updated Honda Racing Corporation “HRC” logo positioned at 3 o’clock on the dial, followed by a special case back engraving commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Suzuka Circuit that was established by Honda in 1962. Notable too is the Alcantara straps finished in black with red pipe-stitching and wrist-side inlay.

Apart from the special visual treatment, the Casio Edifice EQB-2000HR Honda Racing Red Edition offers plenty of the advanced features the base Edifice chronograph is renowned for. Highlights include solar charging, as well as Casio’s proprietary Mobile Link Bluetooth smartphone connectivity function amongst them.

Casio will release this racy Honda special timepiece next month on Sept 30 where it will command a MSRP of ¥77,000 (approx. RM 2,489.48) in Japan.
