PROTON set up PRO-NET as a new subsidiary for latest energy vehicles
PROTON introduces Proton New Energy Technology Sdn. Bhd. (PRO-NET) as a fully owned subsidiary of the car maker as a follow up from the signing of general distributorship agreement (GDA) on August 18 last month.
‘’We are at the beginning of our new energy journey but with today’s official announcement regarding PRO-NET, our plans will gain momentum leading to more developments in the months and years ahead,” stated CEO of PROTON, Dr Li Chunrong.
Through this new formalisation, PRO-NET will be handling the duty of sales and distribution for smart vehicles as well as its own future new energy vehicle offerings on top of hiring external employees from various industries.
Key members of PRO-NET
As the new energy vehicle industry is growing exponentially, PRO-NET aims to be a major part of it locally and abroad.
Giving the impression, smart#1 EV will be the first model to be offered in Malaysia and scheduled to start its selling soon in early Q4 2023 next year as PRO-NET is now preparing the grounds for its launch.
PRO-NET top priority will be the deployment of charging solutions for customers and current plans call for the deployment of a home based and public charging network.
The new subsidiary intends to address the issue in two ways which is through installing and maintaining home-based chargers by constructing a comprehensive public network with partners who specialise in the development and operation of charging stations.
Chief Executive Officer of PROTON, Dr Li Chunrong
‘’As a PROTON subsidiary, PRO-NET has a responsibility to ensure our products and services are accessible to all Malaysians regardless of where they reside so in addition to fixed chargers, we are also considering mobile solutions to expand our reach,” commented Dr Li Chunrong.
‘’These new offerings will not be weighed down by previous model lines or even traditional service operations, it is an opportunity for PROTON to reframe its customer experience and reposition itself as a mobility provider that can attract new and traditional buyers’’ he added.
Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET, Zhang Qiang
PRO-NET will be led by Chief Executive Officer Zhang Qiang who has a long history in the automotive sector in China and spent the last five years with PROTON focusing on sales and network development.
