Skypower EV Group - Is Pro-Net Setting Up Satellite Dealer Networks Nationwide?

New smart car facility at Elmina Township
By now we are pretty sure everyone is aware that Pro-Net, a new energy vehicle (NEV) division of the national car maker Proton would be tasked to market and distribute the smart range of vehicles beginning with the smart #1 and potentially other NEV brands under the Geely umbrella.
Having said that, we have been teased countless times that the smart #1 would hit our shores by the 4th quarter of this year, yet details of it are still being kept under lock and keys.
However, recently we managed to chance upon a sharing via whatsapp showing a corner lot shop under Skypower EV Group Sdn Bhd sporting both the Proton and smart insignias. This particular lot is located in Elmina township (Jalan Eserina AA U16/AA).

Now, whether this would be a training facility, vehicle sales showroom or an authorised service facility is still a mystery as very little is known of this outfit with exception to one employee on LinkedIn. However, with the core branding being Skypower EV Group instead of smart, most likely points to this being a service or training facility.
Furthermore, as we are also aware of, the business module of the NEV is somewhat different compared to its ICE counterpart where very little is required in terms of maintenance and servicing. Most NEV brands are slowly beginning to set up either 1S showroom and service facilities closer to residential, malls and high foot-traffic areas to bring the brand and its offerings closer to its potential target market.

NEV's, apart from warranty related matters, would only be required to come in for its periodic servicing once either every 6 or 12 months depending on the brands requirement eliminating the necessity of having huge service centres like those that exist to fulfil the servicing requirements of ICE vehicles.
Therefore, we are pretty sure that you would soon be seeing many such smaller sales or service facilities popping up closer to you making transitioning into EV just a tad more easier.
