SUKE Highway

Recently reported by local media, nearly 100,000 vehicles were registered using the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE), as soon as it was opened starting last Friday.

The Chief Executive Officer of Kota Lintasan Holdings Sdn Bhd (PROLINTAS), Datuk Mohammad Azlan Abdullah himself admitted this.

"Most of the earliest users of the SUKE highway are local residents who took advantage of the public holiday in conjunction with Malaysia Day to experience traveling on the newest elevated highway in the Klang Valley," he stated.

Notably, the new route received quite a response considering that the average daily traffic (ADT) for the first phase was around 80,000 vehicles per day, of which recently went up to 100,000.

Be it so, according to Kosmo, there are still a number of vehicles that opted out from using the SUKE highway, as Jalan Lingkaran Tengah 2 (MRR2) is seen to be heavily congested as usual.

That said, the first phase of the SUKE highway, for a distance of 16.6 KM was opened to users from 12 PM last Friday. It starts from Cheras-Kajang intersection to Bukit Antarabangsa.

More interestingly, as reported by CariCarz.com last week, free tolls are given to SUKE highway users for a month.
