TnG NFC Card Scalping, Five Times More Its Original Price
TnG NFC Cards, Scalpers Price Hike
Users beware, scalpers are now selling the Touch 'n Go (TnG) Near-Field Communication (NFC) cards via online channels at ridiculous prices.
Officially, the TnG NFC cards are being sold at selected petrol stations or through online transactions using the TnG application at a price of MYR 10.
Now though, they are being sold by the scalpers for five times more of its original price, and with no credit on it.
This issue was detected by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP), after people complained that it was difficult to get the card, specifically at petrol stations.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs’ minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, said, "We received four official complaints about the TnG NFC cards, in addition to detecting 13 sales advertisements involving several online platforms for the period from April to 25 September."

Apparently, it was revealed that the sale of TnG NFC cards on the online platforms involved employees at the payment counter of several petrol stations.
Added the minister, based on information gathered from the online platforms, a total of 11 premises, including private residences and business buildings, were in relation to the case.
As such, six warrants under the Section 21 of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 (AKHAP) were issued to the parties involved.
To solve this problem, the KPDNHEP will hold a meeting with the TnG company, which is expected to take place this week.
It is understood that the purpose of the meeting is to gather more details on the sale and the lack of supply of the TnG NFC cards.
