Continental UltraContact UC7 tyres enters local market
Leading tyremaker Continental sees its product range grow a little recently following the introduction of its new UltraContact UC7 tyres range. This is the brand’s first ‘Generation 7’ product to enter the local market, and it brings forth a host of improvements all around over the UltraContact UC6 predecessor.
According to Continental, the UltraContact UC7’s development saw a global team of 25 engineers and material experts investing over 9,500 hours in designing, simulating, constructing and testing prototypes of the UC7 across 850 tests under various conditions too.
Key improvements incorporated include what Continental dubs as ‘Diamond DNA’. What this entails too is the employment of the brand’s special Diamond Compound, Noise Breaker 3.0, and Aqua Channel Advanced features to deliver enhanced wet weather performance, increased noise reduction, and much longer tyre life.
Notably, the Aqua Channel Advanced tech, which adds specially designed sipes on the centre of the tread pattern for even greater water evacuation, allows the UltraContact UC7 to deliver outstanding wet weather performance and grip. This works in tandem with Continental’s ‘Flow X-celerator’ design for improved surface contact by leveraging on a Venturi effect to accelerate water flow through the groove pattern. Altogether, all of these work towards mitigating aquaplaning better whilst also allowing for shorter braking distances as well.
The Diamond Compound, on the other hand, sees Continental imbue the UltraContact UC7’s construction with an optimised polymer network with increased resistance against wear. Additionally, this tyre construction method’s inclusion of what Continental dubs as its ‘whisper touch’ contributes towards the tyre’s overall noise reduction abilities as well through the absorption of impacts from the road.
Speaking of noise reduction, the UltraContact UC7 also boasts Continental’s Noise Breaker 3.0 design in its construction too. It works by interrupting the sound waves that travel through the tyre’s groove by effectively breaking these soundwaves up to dissipate into smaller waves, thus mitigating noise from building up and entering the car’s cabin.
In other words, the new Continental UltraContact UC7 tyres take things up significantly by a few levels over its UltraContact UC6 predecessors, thus making them perhaps a solid choice for many consumers.
Available through authorised dealers and retailers since late October 2022, the new Continental UltraContact UC7 tyres are also available in multiple sizes ranging from 15-inch to 18-inch fitments, thus covering a wide variety of compact and mid-sized cars, luxury sedans, as well as MPVs.
As for price, Continental Malaysia hasn’t stated any figures at the time of writing, but a quick research through popular online shopping platforms shows that dealers have priced the UltraContact UC7 from as low as RM245 per piece.
