‘Lamborghini: The Man Behind The Legend’ trailer hits the web

The first trailer to perhaps one of the most anticipated car movies to hit theatres this year has hit the web. We’re talking of course about the upcoming biopic of the late Ferruccio Lamborghini, titled ‘Lamborghini: The Man Behind The Legend’, which releases later this year.

In production since 2016, producers reportedly had the help from Tonino Lamborghini – Ferruccio’s son – in their bid to make this film as accurate as possible. Starring as the titular character is American action star Frank Grillo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Purge).

Joining Grillo on the cast bill is Oscar-winner Mira Sorvino who portrays Annita (Mighty Aphrodite) – Ferruccio’s second wife. Charged with writing the film’s screenplay and directing is Oscar-winner Robert Moresco whose past works include co-writing Crash and producer of Million Dollar Baby.

“I am very proud to produce a film about an iconic man who had such a profound impact around the world, and left a legacy that lives on in such strong spirit,” said producer Andrea Iervolino. He also noted that Ferruccio was “a pioneering businessman who brought honour to Italy.”

The movie’s plot centres on Ferruccio Lamborghini, as well as the events that led to his decision in founding his own sports car business to rival directly against the celebrated Ferrari marque and its equally legendary founder Enzo (played by Irish actor Gabriel Byrne).

The film will track Lamborghini’s life until at least the 1970s, which was when the iconic Countach model was first released. Of course, other historic Lamborghini models are set to feature prominently too, namely the likes of its groundbreaking Miura and 350 GT.

From the trailer, we can also see that the film will star several other historic vehicles from other marques too. Apart from the Lamborghini’s own creations, the appearance of several Ferrari models plus an iconic Porsche 356 Speedster are included too.

This retelling of Ferruccio Lamborghini’s life and the story behind the establishment of his legendary car company is set to debut in theaters and streaming services on Nov 18, 2022.
