Rapid KL To Add 40 Buses Thanks To Smart Selangor And Mara Liner To Aid LRT Service Disruption

In a press statement yesterday, Rapid KL announced that following the closure of 16 stations on the Kelana Jaya LRT Line, Rapid Bus will add 40 free intermediate buses to convey impacted passengers from November 10, after receiving cooperation from Smart Selangor and Mara Liner to supply 20 buses each to supplement the massive undertaking of ferrying passengers affected by the LRT service disruption.

Rapid Bus now has 83 buses to meet the requirement of the large number of passengers. According to Rapid KL's social media, the number of intermediate buses would increase to more than 120 to accommodate passengers on five (5) routes below: -
LRT Line 1: Ara Damansara Station – Pasar Seni Station
LRT Line 2: Ara Damansara Station – Kelana Jaya Station
LRT Line 3: Kelana Jaya Station – Pasar Seni Station
LRT Line 4: Pasar Seni Station – Masjid Jamek Station
LRT Line 5: Masjid Jamek Station - Dato' Keramat Station

A total of 80 workers from Prasarana will be stationed at the stations to assist passengers in terms of offering guidance for boarding intermediate buses. The increase in the number of staff at the station is to strengthen the control of passenger flow.

Rapid Rail has also promised to grant free fares for each day of service disruption to Kelana Jaya Line LRT users affected. This complimentary fare will be implemented once the route's service has been restored. More specifics on this will be released soon according to Rapid Rail.
Rapid KL has also advised passengers to keep following their social media (Facebook & Twitter) for regular updates on the status of the services.
From our observation on some of the social feeds on Rapid KL’s posts, users are now calling for Rapid KL to instruct the RELA and Special Polis stationed at the bus pick-up venues to manage the crowd waiting and boarding the buses in an orderly manner.
