Malaysian Police’s (PDRM) Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) organised “Ops Halangan” and “ Ops Samseng” to apprehend road users illegally parking their vehicles, obstructing other road users and performing illegal modifications on their vehicles.

The enforcement operation involved 114 officers and was performed in the Kuala Lumpur city centre at Bukit Bintang, Jalan Changkat, Jalan Alur, Jalan Raja Laut and DUKE Highway. A total of 397 summons were issued from 2am to 4am during the operation.

During the operation, a total of 35 cars and 10 motorcycles was confiscated under Seksyen 64 APJ 1987 for the offence of illegally modifying the vehicle's exhaust system. All confiscated vehicles would be checked by the officers at the Jabatan Alam Sekitar (Environment Department) and the vehicle owners would be instructed to change the exhaust system back to original before they can reclaim the vehicle.

At the operation held in DUKE Highway, three arrests were made involving motorcycle riders aged 15 to 19 for the offences of riding dangerously while zig-zagging and racing in “superman” pose. All the offenders would be charged under the Seksyen 42(1) APJ 1987, driving dangerously while endangering other road users. During the same operation, another arrest was made on an 18 year old individual for the offence of falsifying vehicle registration number under the Seksyen 29(1) AKK 1955 and would be charged under Seksyen 108(3)(e) APJ1987.

According to Dato’ Yahaya Othman, Kuala Lumpur Assistant Police Chief, theTraffic Investigation and Enforcement Department would ramp up frequency of operations during weekends to curb drivers posing as road menace posing danger to others. Any members of the public who would like to report such activities are welcome to reach out via HotlineJSPT at 03-2026 0267/69.
