GoEV Turns One – Over 1,000 users with EV fleet expanded too

On-demand car-sharing app GoCar sees its GoEV programme celebrate its one-year anniversary this week. First launched in Dec 2021, the program has undergone quite the growth since its birth as detailed by GoCar in a press statement issued earlier today.
To date, GoEV now boasts over 1,000 active users who have clocked over 500,000 KM in mileage through the electric vehicles (EVs) it provided through the car-sharing app. In the same period, the EVs fleeted under the GoEV program have grown in numbers too, totalling over 50 units now for both sharing and subscription options as offered through the app.

The bulk of said fleet consists of the Nissan Leaf, and GoCar stated plans to have more than 30 units of which fleeted across 20 zones within the Klang Valley as well. Said effort should go a long way towards the GoEV program’s aim of giving the public affordable access to EVs through car-sharing or subscription.

Beyond its fleet, GoEV also took a critical step towards granting greater access to users by partnering with EV Connection and integrating the latter’s JomCharge mobile platform. The latter lets users easily view charger locations, availability, and charger types present in the JomCharge network via the GoCar app itself.

“The EV market in Malaysia has been gaining momentum, specifically in the development of charging infrastructure and introduction of more EV models from various car brands. However, accessibility to the masses is still a challenge. The high cost of purchasing an EV is simply not viable for most Malaysians, especially given current challenging economic conditions,” said Wong Hoe Mun, GoCar Malaysia’s CEO.
Wong further added that potential EV buyers can also take advantage of GoEV for a longer-term experience before committing towards purchasing an EV. “The goal is to provide more affordable EV access to the general public so that everyone, not just the privileged few, can experience the EV lifestyle,” adds Wong further.

In light of its milestone anniversary, GoCar will offer savings of up to 70% (capped at RM80) on GoEV car sharing bookings using the promo code “1STGOEV”. The limited-time promotion is valid only for bookings made between Dec 12 and Dec 15, but users have until 31 Jan 2023 to redeem their bookings based on their travel plans.
On top of which, GoCar will also reward 10 lucky customers with 100,000 GoPocket Points (worth RM1,000) during this campaign period too. More details are available through the GoCar mobile app, as well as GoCar’s official website and social media channels.
