Most car showrooms are built around one thing: selling cars. But BYD's newly opened Rawang outlet is making room for something a little different: Malaysian art.
Officially opened on 19 October 2026, BYD Rawang is more than another place to explore electric vehicles (EVs). The showroom also gives emerging local artists an opportunity to exhibit and sell their work, without having to surrender a portion of their sales to the venue.

For visitors, it means there's something to discover beyond the cars on display. For participating artists, it's a chance to reach a new audience and keep every ringgit earned from their artwork sales.
Selected participating artists keep the full proceeds from their artwork sales. BYD Rawang charges no commission.
A Car Showroom Where Artists Keep Every Ringgit
The idea is straightforward. Rather than limiting the space to vehicle displays, BYD Rawang has introduced a dedicated showcase for emerging Malaysian artists.
Selected artists will be able to exhibit their work for three months at a time, with the displays refreshed every quarter. Visitors can also purchase the artworks on display.
And here's the interesting part: the showroom will not take any commission from those sales. For example, if a painting sells for RM1,000, the artist receives the full RM1,000 in sales proceeds.
Of course, artists cannot simply walk in and put their paintings on display. Applications will be reviewed, and shortlisted artists will be contacted directly.

BE Group Managing Director Andrew Tay said the initiative is intended to support local creative talent while giving customers and visitors a more distinctive showroom experience.
It's a refreshing approach for a dealership, particularly when most automotive retail spaces are designed almost entirely around the vehicles themselves.
What Does BYD Rawang Offer Car Buyers?
Beyond the artwork, BYD Rawang is still very much an automotive showroom. Operated by BE Autohaus under BE Group, the outlet occupies a 4,298 sq. ft. showroom on a 10,803 sq. ft. site.
Its design takes inspiration from European architecture, featuring light-coloured finishes, balanced proportions and subtle castle-inspired details.
For customers in Rawang and surrounding communities, the opening provides another location to discover BYD's vehicles and arrange test drives.
One point worth noting: the announcement describes BYD Rawang as a showroom, rather than a 3S centre. It does not confirm on-site servicing or repair facilities.
BE Group's Third BYD Outlet In Malaysia

BYD Rawang marks another step in BE Group's expansion with the Chinese EV brand. The group entered BYD's Malaysian dealer network in November 2022 through BYD Setia Alam, operated by BE Drive Auto. It then opened BYD Kota Kemuning under BE Motorworld in September 2024, before adding Rawang under BE Autohaus in October 2026.
The latest opening also contributes to BYD Sime Motors' growing nationwide retail presence. According to the distributor, its Malaysian network currently comprises 45 sales and marketing outlets, 33 aftersales facilities and 16 body and paint centres.
For buyers, the distinction between sales outlets and aftersales facilities matters. A larger retail network makes it more convenient to explore and purchase an EV, but workshop accessibility remains an important part of long-term ownership.
BYD Rawang Open House: What's Happening Until 30 October?
Those curious about the new showroom can check it out during its launch open house, which runs from 19 to 30 October 2026.
Visitors can explore the vehicles, take a closer look at the showroom's European-inspired design and view the first art exhibition.
For further enquiries, customers can visit the official BYD Sime Motors website or contact the distributor at 1300-38-1888.
Ultimately, BYD Rawang adds another showroom to the brand's expanding Malaysian network. But its most memorable feature may have little to do with horsepower, battery range or charging speeds.
After all, not everyone walking into a car showroom is ready to drive home in a new EV. Some might just leave with a painting instead.
