Ministry Of Transport Axes Five Pre-Awarded Rail Contracts, Now Open To Public Tender
Back in helm, Ministry Of Transport (MOT), YB Anthony Loke issued a media statement yesterday (20 Dec) that there will be a cancellation of five (5) projects which were awarded on a pre-approved basis by the ministry.
This is in line with the new unity government's promise of having proper transparency when it comes to the nations expenditures and awardings of contracts. The five cancelled contracts were to the tune of RM650 million. Although the pre-approved contract was awarded, luckily the Letter Of Acceptance (SST) was not issued yet.
The five retracted contracts were all in the railway portfolio of the MOT namely;
Stabilisation and Slope Reprofiling works at Pahang Rail Track (Mentakab-Merapoh).
Stabilisation and Slope Reprofiling works at KelantanRail Track (Gua Musang-Tumpat).
Appointment of Independent Checking Consultant (ICC) for Phase 2 Klang Valley Double Tracking (KVDT) upgrade works.
East Coast Railway - Refurbishment of Gua Musang-Tumpat Railway, due to rain damage (Package C).
East Coast Railway - Refurbishment and Upgrade works at Gemas-Mentakab Railway (Package A).
