Check out five of the Queen's coolest cars!

Aston Martin DB6 Volante

The Queen and Prince Philip purchased the Aston Martin DB6 Volante as a 21st birthday present for Prince Charles.

The car, which is famously said to be "powered by wine," uses approximately four and a half bottles of wine for every mile it travels, after the Prince converted it to bioethanol in 2008 to be more environmentally friendly.

The Prince said of converting the car, "The engineers were initially sceptical that the conversion would work, but I persisted. They had to admit that the car now performs better than ever after the conversion."

During the royal wedding, the car was also used as Will and Kate's departure vehicle.

Bentley Bentayga

In 2015, the Queen was given the very first Bentley Bentayga to roll off the assembly line.

At the Frankfurt Motor Show, Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer stated that they had "reserved the number one car for her."

The Bentley Bentayga was the fastest SUV ever produced at the time, and this particular model came equipped with a full list of mod cons fit for a head of state.

The vehicle's starting price was £160,000, though we expect this one to be slightly higher.

Daimler Double Six

Although the royal family no longer owns this car, it has a unique feature that we had to include.

Sotheby's auctioned off the Daimler Double Six in 2019 for around £80,500.

The interior was finished in parchments, and a specially manufactured, full-length bench seat was installed to make the Queen's three corgis' journeys more comfortable.

Bentley State Limousine

The Bentley State Limousine is the royal family's most expensive vehicle – and they have two of them!

A single one costs around £10,000,000 and is primarily used for official government business such as public appearances.

It has enhanced security features such as armoured bodywork and glass that protect the occupants inside the cabin from external threats, and it is completely airtight on the inside to protect against potential gas attacks.

The vehicle also has a blast-resistant chassis and Kevlar-reinforced tyres.

Land Rover Defender

Over 30 Land Rover Defenders have been owned by the Queen.

This model has specially added features such as heated seats and electric windows, which are uncommon on a Defender, which is known for its simplicity.

It was built specifically for the royal family by Land Rover in 2002 and was purchased by Sandringham, despite the estate's preference for leasing rather than buying cars.

After the Defender was auctioned, a hunting party left shotgun cartridges in the glove box.
