Tengku Zafrul - Malaysia To Be The Next ASEAN Automotive Hub, MITI Committed To Support & Promote EV

Minister of International Trade and Industries, YB Tengku Zafrul Tengku recently shared on his social details of his working visit to several automotive manufacturing facilities up-north in Kedah and Penang. In that he also stated his confidence in Malaysia's potential to become the ASEAN automotive hub.
According to Tengku Zafrul further, “under the Malaysia MADANI focus on Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET), more Malaysians can improve their respective technical skills to benefit from investment and industrial developments.”

Tengku Zafrul had visited the Inokom Corporation Sdn. Bhd. vehicle production plant in Kulim, Kedah which has managed production for brands such as Hyundai, BMW, Mini, Chery, Mazda, Porsche and Kia for the local and export market.
He is also positive of Southeast Asia growth potential with good policies and ecosystem in place which would help catapult Malaysia to realise the automotive hub goal.

Furthermore, the Ministry of International Trade and Industries (MITI) and other supporting agencies are committed to support and promote Electric Vehicle (EV) in Malaysia to attract foreign investors. They would also establish proper standards in EV research and development, utilising local talents.
Tengku Zafrul further acknowledged that there are more than 2100 local talents who have benefited from Inokom’s development of specialised in the automotive field resulting from overseas technology transfer.
