Touch 'n Go Promises To Produce Over 3.5 Million Cards in 2023 To Meet Demand

The ministry of domestic trade and cost of living (KPDN) said in a statement that immediate action has been taken to address the persistent shortage of TnG card, promising to produce 3.5 million units by the end of 2023, up from 2.68 million in 2022, representing a roughly 30% increase in volume output. The 30% increase in TnG card production for this year should help meet high demand, especially for the Enhanced Touch 'n Go Card, which is always out of stock. The NFC-enabled card allows users to top up via an NFC-enabled smartphone and the TnG eWallet app, allowing reloads to be completed virtually anywhere. This is an improvement over traditional TnG cards, which require users to top up at dedicated reload kiosks or at locations such as gas stations and convenience stores that provide reloading services. The issue prompted the ministry to order that all unauthorised sales advertisements for TnG cards be removed from e-commerce platforms, while official card dealers must limit one card per customer at the set price.
"On the removal of unregistered card sales advertisements the company has taken immediate action by sending an official notice to the e-commerce platform to remove all unregistered TnG product sales advertisements," said the ministry. TnG will also proactively remind users of their registered card's expiry date a month before it expires by emailing the email address linked to their TnG account - a notification will also be sent out through the TnG eWallet app, according to the ministry.
TnG will also expedite refunds for cards that still have credit in the event that users' cards are about to expire, stolen or lost, or if they intend to switch to a newer card. "On the issue of return and refund of card balances, the company will examine and implement the refund process immediately to the users after the concession company conducts investigation, verification and approval,” said the ministry.
