JPJ Uses Drone To Observe Traffic Violations Throughout Raya Season

JPJ Negeri Sembilan has confirmed that it will not conduct roadblocks (SJR) throughout the Aidilfitri festival season. This is because the department will use drones to detect traffic violations occurring on highways, said Harian Metro.

According to Director of JPJ Negeri Sembilan, Hanif Yusabra Yusuf said, it aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and movement following the increase of vehicles in conjunction with the upcoming Raya celebration.

"During the last Chinese New Year Ops (Op TBC) 2023, 200 notices issued by us were offences detected using drones only. We just added one more making it three drones’’ Hanif stated.

As reported, there will be three drones operated by trained controllers to detect traffic offenders who commit most common offences like breaking the red light, cutting the lines as well as using the emergency lanes.

The department also plans to focus on enforcement that uses footage either through drones or the use of cameras using Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) whereas the officer will be at the traffic light with his camera.

As drones will be used in highways areas as well as federal roads, this tool also discovered to be more effective in terms of manpower. More than that, it has more access to remote areas and will not disrupt roadblocks.

Thus, drones are considered to be more functional when it comes to monitoring the roads as road users must always be cautious as officers might not be having roadblocks but they have flying equipment to observe the situation from the skies.

However, road users are advised to share any information to the authorities or via e-Aduan@JPJ application which relates to road violations or incidents instead of spreading it on social media platforms as it may create wrong perception.
